Time Signature

C = common time, another name for 4/4 (felt in 4). ¢ = cut time (2/2) — the half note takes the beat, so a bar holds as much as 4/4 but is felt in 2. Choose Quarters in 2/2 to see four quarter notes felt in two, and switch between C and ¢ while it plays to hear the difference.
Turn on More meters for compound meters (6/8, 9/8, 12/8) and uncommon ones like 5/4 and 7/8.
Tap a beat light above the tempo to make that beat soft, normal, accented, or silent.

        Tempo ramp

Each tempo starts with one quieter bar at that tempo, to listen and reset in, then its bars to play.

        Timing check
        Timpani pitch

Tap a note to hear it.

A setup keeps the time signature and grouping, the tempo, each beat's rhythm and level, counting, sticking, the sound and the click mixer — up to 50 on this device. Tap a saved setup to load it, even while the metronome plays. Copy link makes a link that opens Pulse Pocket set up the same way, to send to a student or open on another device. The timer counts only while the metronome plays. Copy practice report copies today's time, your goal and any timing check as text to paste into a class assignment. Copy goal link copies a link that opens the timer with the goal picked here, for a teacher to send to students. Pitch holds a timpani reference note for up to eight seconds; tap it again to stop. The drum names are typical ranges (32″ D–A, 29″ F–C, 26″ B♭–F, 23″ D–A, 20″ F–C), and drums vary.
A set list plays setups in order, each for its bars, and moves on right on the bar line; a whole list shares as one link. The timing check measures each tap against the nearest note on the staff, silent beats included. Tapping on a screen adds a delay of its own, so press Calibrate once on each device and tap 16 notes as evenly as you can: after that, early and late are measured from your own center. Steadiness counts most.

        Counting & Sticking

        Counting
        Sticking
Standard = the traditional American band-room count (1 e & a, 1 la li). Eastman = the McHose/Tibbs system (1 te, 1 la li, 1 ti te ta). Natural sticking keeps each hand tied to its spot in the grid — rests don't change hands. Alternate switches hands on every played note, so rests shift the pattern.

        Subdivisions & Patterns

        Subdivisions
Set every beat at once here, or tap a beat on the staff to preview a change, then Apply rhythm or Cancel. Patterns mix notes and rests inside a beat — silent pulses show as rests with their counts in (parentheses). Edit notes keeps a touch target on every note and rest. Pattern choices appear once their subdivision is picked, grouped by how many notes sound.

        Combination Rhythms

Presets fill the measure beat-by-beat, repeating the sequence if the measure is longer. Hover a preset to see its recipe.

        Sound & device

Keeps the screen on while the metronome plays. Uses more battery. Turns off when you stop or leave the page.

        Click Mixer

        Swing
Each slider is its own click. Rhythm plays the staff above; the others play a steady grid under it, each in its own pitch. Turn Rhythm down to read the staff while you hear only the grid. Swing moves every other eighth note later — 67% is triplet swing.

        Sound Recovery

If the sound drops out, one silent bar flashes before the click comes back.
